Volunteer with Us

Tekion Malnad Ultra is a 100% volunteer-driven effort and we are looking to add to our team this year.

Why Volunteer?

Running events, especially ultras, celebrate human endurance and spirit. Our volunteers can contribute to and get an up-close view of one of India’s popular running events in the beautiful Malnad region. You can view this as a working vacation or a short course in management or simply as a character building experience! No matter how you view it, the event will allow you to be part of the fun and build everlasting friendships.

What we Offer?

We appreciate the fact that our volunteers are giving us their precious time. We will cover all expenses and take care of planning and logistics. Specifically, we offer the following to our volunteers:

    • Transport by rail/road from Bengaluru to the event
    • Comfortable and clean boarding and lodging on a sharing basis.

Volunteer Profile

Our ideal volunteer is mature, energetic, and has a positive outlook to life. They must be prepared to take complete ownership and responsibility for their function and the tasks allocated. While we believe in being non-hierarchical, there will necessarily be a reporting chain to ensure that tasks get done efficiently and with quality. Our volunteers must be able to work with minimal guidance, but yet have the ability to take guidance from their managers. Our event is conducted in a poor-network area and this requires volunteers to make independent decisions while maintaining the spirit and value-system of our event.

Our volunteers will view volunteering at this event as fun in a fulfilling way. A sense of humour will help cope with the stress and overall team chemistry. It certainly helps if our volunteers are runners themselves. This will allow them to understand the mindset of runners at the event.

We expect that our volunteers will have to work tirelessly for 3-4 days at a stretch during this event. Volunteers must endure physically and mentally. This requires a decent level of health and fitness. There is every likelihood that they will be sleep deprived!

Volunteers are expected to bring their own basic gear and be prepared to handle harsh weather conditions. Weather in the region is unpredictable and you could get rain, extreme sun and cold conditions within a period of 24 hours.

Volunteers must be prepared to take leave and get away from any work commitments during their stint of volunteering. While it is possible to respond to some email and be available on a call in an emergency, mobile networks are poor at the event venue and volunteers should not assume that they can meet any commitments at work.

We welcome college students, adventure groups, NCC cadets and such profiles at our event.

All volunteers must be over 18 years of age on or before November 1st, 2025. Volunteers will have to sign a General Waiver agreement with us.
