General Information

The Malnad Ultra is a trail run designed to provide the next-level experience for runners. The course is laid out in the heartland of Indian coffee in the Malnad region of India at elevations from 800 to 1500 m.

18 hours

A UTMB Index Race, the big daddy of our event this year beckons experienced ultra runners. Runners must complete two loops of 50K in 18 hours. Expect over 97% of Jeep trails meandering through coffee plantations. The night section should get your adrenalin pumping and give you goosebumps from the sounds. Headlights are mandatory!

Course Info

9 hours

Also a UTMB Index Race, this category is especially designed for experienced marathoners who are ready to take the leap into ultra and trail running. The course is laid out in a single loop across five coffee plantations. Take in endless miles of coffee with majestic trees. Apart from varieties of birds, look out for Malabar Giant Squirrels, Porcupines, Hares, Deer, Peackocks and other small wildlife.

30K

6 hours

Our entry category is designed to introduce city runners to trail running. We mildly suggest that participants do not worry about recording personal bests on our course and even the seemingly liberal cutoff of six hours is likely to test you. Take back lifelong memories; you are unlikely to go back to road running again!

Event Location

(The start location is about 17 kms north-west from Attigundi, Karnataka 577131, India)

Please look out for updates as we approach event date

Packages

We are partnering with Active Holiday Company to offer packages that will cover travel and accommodation. These packages will be ex-Bangalore and cover 2-way transport to the event, shared accommodation and everything else in between. You can safely leave all your planning around travel and accommodation to them. Expect details to be published around August 25th.

Travel

Our event is held in a remote location and unfortunately road travel is the only way to get to the start area. We strongly recommend that participants carpool to reduce traffic congestion on narrow windy roads and to reduce the pressure on parking space. We will provide further details to help you plan your travel over the next few weeks. If you are coming alone to the event, please consider signing up for the package that will be announced soon.

Accommodation

There are plenty of options for all budgets within a 15-20 km radius from Attigundi. Almost all of these places have online reservations. Please note that our Start Area is about 17 kms north-west from Attigundi and you should plan on an hour’s drive from Attigundi to the Start Area on the morning of the event.

We recommend options between Kaimara and Attigundi on the Bababudan Giri Rd/Thippanahalli Estate Rd.

Do remember that roads are narrow and windy and it will take you up to an hour to traverse 15-20 kms. In our experience, it takes about 90 minutes to drive from Kaimara to our Start Area. You should add at least 30 minutes more to account for the traffic on event day.
